Playstation Plus Essential
All playable January 2nd, the Essential level includes the following: A Plague Tale: Requiem, Evil West, and Nobody Saves the World. All games other than A Plague Tale: Requiem are available on both PS4 and PS5. Both A Plague Tale : Requiem and Evil West are on the grittier, dark side of games, and so have landed a Mature rating. Probably not a great pick for the kids (but I have interest in both of them). Nobody Saves the World is a Teen Action RPG where you can transform into different forms to use mechanics to complete quests. Honestly this sounds pretty cool and a solid pick for kids.
Xbox Games Pass Ultimate
Looks like we only have 2 titles that exist outside of the Mature rating this month: Figment (Cloud, Console, and PC – January 9) and Super Mega Baseball 4 (Cloud, Console, and PC – January 11). Figment is an E10+ adventure game that is set inside the human mind. Very interesting! Super Mega Baseball 4 is an E sports game. This is released by EA sports, and reviews generally look about 3/5 on the xbox store. Though our kiddo appropriate titles are limited, I will say for the adults, there are a *few* good ones that I definitely recommend: We Happy Few (Cloud, Console, and PC – January 11), Resident Evil 2 (Cloud, Console, and PC – January 16) and Those Who Remain (Cloud, Console, and PC – January 16) . Three titles that are Mature darker type games, and I’ve heard good things about all of them (and own RE 2).
In closing
I’m hoping we see some cute co-operative games next month for Valentine’s day! I’ll say after checking out Nobody Saves the World I’ve put it on my steam wishlist. Evil West has been on there for awhile though. New episode is up and we’ll be working on the next episode soon enough. I should have the short up for Episode 40 by this weekend.
